David Wu

Hong Kong-Canadian editor and director, renowned for his dynamic editing in action films, particularly his collaborations with director John Woo. Wu advocates a philosophy of serving the director's purpose above technical showmanship, a lesson he learned from a "golden mistake" on his first feature, *The Policeman* (1973). He is also a proponent of self-education, having learned his craft by re-editing the discarded outtakes of master filmmakers like Kurosawa and Peckinpah.
