Keyframing

he fundamental building block of digital animation and effects within an NLE. Keyframing involves setting the value of a property (e.g., scale, position, opacity) at specific points in time, then allowing the software to automatically interpolate the transition between those points. It is the core method for creating any change over time that isn't a simple cut. In motion graphics-heavy styles, keyframes are often 'eased' (e.g., ease in, ease out) to create more natural-looking, less robotic acceleration and deceleration of movement. This is fundamental to creating smooth slide, scroll, and scale animations, often enhanced with effects like motion blur.
