Match Dissolve
transition that combines a graphic or conceptual match between two shots with a dissolve, creating a layered, poetic connection that explicitly draws attention to itself. Unlike a hard match cut, the match dissolve uses the overlapping images to take storytelling to a higher emotional level, often bridging significant gaps in time or location. The technique is a modern application of Vsevolod Pudovkin's concept of parallelism.
