Nominal Color-Coding Limit

he principle that when using color to label or differentiate distinct categories of information (e.g., characters, timelines, factions), the number of colors should be limited to a maximum of five to seven. Exceeding this limit overloads the viewer's short-term memory and ability to track the color-coded system, diminishing the clarity the system was meant to provide. A constrained palette is more powerful and easier for an audience to internalize.
