Droids (Assistant Editors)

colloquial term, originating from the edit of 'Apocalypse Now,' for assistant editors in the analog era. It affectionately described the crew performing the laborious, repetitive, and 'robotic' tasks of managing and reconstituting millions of feet of film workprint and trims. The name was later adopted for the 'Droid Olympics,' a competition celebrating these very skills.
