he practice of editing together disparate audio clips of a person speaking to construct a new sentence or thought they never actually uttered. This technique is used to create narrative clarity, generate conflict, or fit a pre-determined storyline, often at the expense of authenticity. It represents a significant ethical line, more commonly and openly crossed in reality television than in traditional documentary filmmaking.
