he process of exporting a timeline from a non-linear editing system as an Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) file, primarily for sound mixing and design. An AAF contains metadata linking to the original audio source files, along with clip placement, volume automation, and basic effects, allowing a sound editor to rebuild the sequence in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It is a critical handoff point between the picture and sound departments.
