CMX-RAVE System

ne of the first commercially available non-linear editing (NLE) systems, representing a major technological shift from physical film splicing or linear tape-to-tape editing. Developed by CMX, Inc. (a joint venture of CBS and Memorex), the Random Access Video Editing (RAVE) system used magnetic disk packs to store video, allowing an editor to instantly access and arrange shots in any order via a console.
