Edit Decision List (EDL)

machine-readable list of instructions that precisely documents an edited sequence. The EDL contains the source tape/reel numbers and the specific frame numbers or timecodes for the start and end of each clip, allowing the creative 'offline' edit to be perfectly recreated ('conformed') using the high-quality 'online' source materials. It is the essential blueprint that bridges the creative and technical finishing stages of post-production.
