Slug (Editorial Placeholder)

placeholder, typically a simple graphic with text on a black background, inserted into an edit to stand in for a missing element. Slugs are used to represent a missing shot, a yet-to-be-created VFX element, or even an entire missing scene. This allows the editor to maintain the structure and timing of a sequence while clearly flagging what needs to be added or completed later.
